For nearly 40 years, we've worked alongside older people, disabled people, councils, the NHS and housing partners across Bristol and the South West — making homes safer, warmer, and easier to live in.
We Care Home Improvements is a registered charity and a recognised Home Improvement Agency. Since 1986, we've been doing one thing: helping people stay in the home they want to live in, even as life and health change around them.
We work with older adults, disabled people, families, councils, housing associations and the NHS. Some of what we do is small — a grab rail, a draught-proofed window, a handrail at the front door. Some of it is bigger — a level-access shower, a stairlift, a step-free entrance, a full home adaptation. All of it has the same goal: a home that works for the person who lives in it.
We're a charity because the people we help shouldn't have to navigate the system alone, and because the surplus from the work we do funds the work we don't get paid for. Any money left at the end of a year goes back into the service.
The numbers below say what the work looks like at scale. The people who turn up to your home, however, are the same team that's been doing it in this region for decades.
Robin Hudswell leads We Care Home Improvements as Chief Executive. The wider team includes caseworkers, technical officers, surveyors, and tradespeople — most of them local, all of them familiar with the funding routes, the paperwork, and the practical realities of adapting a real home for a real person.
