Each service below has its own page with more detail — what's involved, what it costs, how funding works, and how long it usually takes. If you already know what you're after, click through. If you're not sure, that's fine too.

A lot of our clients come to us not knowing what they need — just that something at home isn't working any more. In that case, the quickest thing is to call us on 0300 323 0700 or send us a message. We'll have a normal conversation, work out what would help, and explain the funding options without the jargon.

Practical changes that keep people independent at home.

Major home adaptations

Stairlifts, level-access showers, through-floor lifts, widened doorways. The bigger changes that keep your home liveable as your needs change. We handle the survey, the Disabled Facilities Grant paperwork, the build, and the sign-off.

Major adaptations

Bathroom adaptations

Wet rooms, walk-in showers, grab rails, raised toilet seats. Bathrooms designed around how you actually need to use them — slip-resistant flooring, accessible storage, lever taps, and finishes that still look like a home.

Bathroom adaptations

Kitchen adaptations

Lowered worktops, pull-out shelving, lever taps, accessible appliances. Kitchens that stay usable as mobility changes — without losing the feel of a kitchen you want to cook in.

Kitchen adaptations

Ramps & step-free access

Threshold ramps, modular ramp systems, handrails. Getting in and out of your home without the steps becoming a barrier. Temporary or permanent, internal or external — we fit what suits the house and the person.

Ramp installation

Energy efficiency & warm homes

Insulation, draught-proofing, heating advice, condensation work. A warm home is a safe home — especially in winter, especially in later life. We connect grant-funded measures with practical fixes.

Handy jobs & repairs

Small jobs that make a big difference: changing a lightbulb safely, fixing a sticking door, putting up a curtain rail, securing a loose carpet. The kind of help that’s hard to find when you live alone.

Handy jobs

Gardening & outdoor support

Pathways cleared, hedges cut back, outdoor lighting fitted, garden access made safe. The outside of the home matters too — especially the route to the front door.

Family support & advice

If you're worried about a parent, a partner, or someone you care for, we can help you think through what would make home work. A home visit, an honest conversation, and a clear plan.

The HIA the sector voted best in England.

In 2024, the National Healthy Housing Awards named We Care Home Improvements the best Home Improvement Agency in England. The work is funded by councils, the NHS, and grants — so for many people we help, it’s free at the point of use.

The things people usually ask first.

If your question isn't here, call us on 0300 323 0700 or send a message — we'll answer plainly.

How do I know which service I need?
You don't need to know. Tell us what's happening at home — what's harder than it used to be, where the worry is — and we'll work out the right service with you. Often a single visit is enough to make a plan.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the work and how it's funded. For many people we support, council Disabled Facilities Grant funding, NHS partnership funding, or charitable funding covers the cost in full. For others, we'll quote you transparently before any work starts. [TBC: confirm pricing/funding wording]
How long does it take?
Small jobs — like a grab rail, a handrail, or a hospital-discharge fast-track adaptation — can often happen within days. Larger adaptations like a level-access shower or stairlift take longer, partly because of grant funding processes. We'll give you a realistic timeline at first contact, not a marketing one. [TBC: confirm typical turnaround times]
Do I need a referral?
No. You can come to us directly. We also work with referrals from councils, NHS teams, GPs, social workers, and family members. Whatever route you arrive through, we'll handle the paperwork and the funding conversation on your behalf.
Do you cover my area?
We cover Bristol, South Gloucestershire and much of the wider South West. If you're not sure, call us — we'll tell you straight, and if we can't help in your area we'll usually know who can. [TBC: confirm full geographic coverage]
